Penyisihan Zat Organik Dan Warna Pada Air Gambut Terhadap Ukuran Partikel Dan Kecepatan Pengadukan Dengan Koagulan Serbuk Biji Asam Jawa
ABSTRACT
Peat water is surface water resulting from the accumulation of plant material
residues that have high organic matter, and color. One alternative method of treating
peat water is coagulation-flocculation using natural coagulants. This study was to
determine the efficiency of removal of parameters of organic matter and color in peat
water on variations in coagulant particle size and stirring speed using tamarind seed
powder. The independent variables used in this study were variations in the particle
size of the coagulant, namely 270 mesh, 325 mesh, and 400 mesh as much as 2 gr/500
ml and the fast stirring speed used 100 rpm, 150 rpm, 200 rpm and 250 rpm for 4
each. minutes and a slow stirring speed of 40 rpm for 10 minutes. The results of this
study were the concentration of organic substances in peat water decreased to 130.2
mg/l, the removal efficiency was 67.8% with a coagulant particle size of 325 mesh
and a stirring speed of 150 rpm, the color concentration decreased to 320.3Pt-Co ,
removal efficiency of 68% with particle size of 325 mesh and stirring speed of 100
rpm.
