Kaji Eksperimental Pada Wet Contact Tribometer Pin-On-Disc Terhadap Laju Keausan Dan Koefisien Gesek Menggunakan Minyak Sawit Dan Campuran Dengan Mineral Oil Sae 10w-30 Sebagai Lubricant
ABSTRACT
Tribology is the science that deals with friction, wear, and lubrication of
surfaces in the relative motion of objects. In machining, mechanical contact is
unavoidable which causes components to experience friction and wear. The Pinon-
Disc Tribometer is a friction and wear test tool consisting of a pin and a disc.
Lubricant is a solution to reduce friction and wear. The Pin-on-Disc Tribometer is
a friction and wear test tool consisting of a pin and a disc. Lubricant is a solution
to reduce friction and wear. Lubricants made from mineral oil and synthetic oil are
non-renewable. Lubricant from bio-based materials can be renewed, one example
is materials from palm oil. Palm oil has a weakness at high working temperatures,
so in this test, a palm oil lubricant and a mixture of palm oil with mineral oil SAE
10W-30 were used to compare the performance of the lubricant tested using a pinon-
disc tribometer. For a mixture of palm oil lubricant and a mixture of palm oil
with mineral oil SAE 10W-30, there are two variants, namely 75% palm oil with
25% mineral oil SAE 10W-30 and 50% versus 50%. The value of the highest wear
rate for each lubricant, the first is 100% palm oil of 4.51474 × 10-15 m3/N.m, in a
mixture of 75% with 25% of 2.5641 × 10-15 m3/N.m, and a mixture of 50%-50% of
7.96944 × 10-16 m3/N.m.
