Pemanfaatan Limbah Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit Menjadi Biocoal Dengan Variasi Waktu Pencucian Dengan Air Gambut Dan Waktu Proses Torefaksi
ABSTRACT
The availability of fossil energy continues to decrease. The consumption in large
quantities and high population growth in the future, it will make the supply of
fossil energy unable to keep pace with the demand for energy needs. This
encourages the Government to continuously increase the role of new and
renewable energy. One of them is empty fruit bunches of oil palm, where its
availability is abundant, especially in Riau Province. However, this EFB palm oil
cannot be used directly because it still has shortcomings. Potassium oxide value
in the combustion residue will cause fouling and slagging, which will affect the
combustion efficiency of the boiler, and the calorific value of combustion is still
low. To solve this problem, two methods are used, namely washing with peat
water and the torrefaction process to produce biocoal. Variations in washing time
were carried out to see how much the percentage of potassium content decreased
in EFB palm oil and variations in the torrefaction process were carried out to see
the increase in the calorific value of combustion that occurred in biocoal
products. The potassium oxide content obtained from washing with peat water
was 5.637%, and the calorific value obtained was 7470.59 kcal/kg.
