Karakteristik Mortar Kerang Di Lingkungan Nacl
ABSTRACT
Mortar is a material commonly used in construction. One of the main materials of
mortar is sand. Riau Province is one of the areas that produce river sand and sea
sand, but river sand and sea sand are rarely used because of their poor
characteristics, besides that it is known that mortar with river sand and sea sand
has low resistance when exposed to a salty environment. Several studies
recommend the addition of additives to increase the strength of the mortar in a
salty or NaCl environment. Related to this, this study aims to examine some of the
physical and mechanical properties of mortar that was added with lokan shellfish
powder as an additive material. The physical properties tested were sorptivity and
porosity, while the mechanical properties tested were bond time, compressive
strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity, hammer test, and chloride penetration. To
achieve this goal, cement mortar was made with two variations of aggregate,
namely river sand and sea sand which were given a mixture of 0%, 5%, and 10%
of loan shell powder by weight of cement. Then, the specimens were treated for
28 days in plain water and followed by immersion in 3.5% NaCl (35 ppm) by
weight of water for 7 days, 28 days, and 56 days. Based on the results of the
study, it was shown that the setting time of the loan clam powder added to the
cement was slower than the setting time of the cement without the addition of
lokan clam powder. The addition of lokan clam powder by 5% can increase the
compressive strength by 3.34% and the mortar tightness up to 3000 m/s in the
ultrasonic pulse velocity test, slowing the water absorption from the sorptivity test
results, the water absorption value is below 0.2 mm/min0,5, reduce the porosity
and reduce the chloride content that enters the mortar up to 2.7%.
