Perancangan Galeri Batik Riau Di Pekanbaru Dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Regionalisme
ABSTRACT
In an effort to increase the development of Riau Malay Batik in Pekanbaru, the
Government seeks to preserve and introduce batik culture to the community,
especially in Pekanbaru. Until now Riau Malay Batik motifs have developed into 39
Batik motifs, but over time the batik craftsmen in Pekanbaru began to decrease. To
improve this, a facility is needed as a forum for the basic introduction of Riau Batik
and its manufacturing techniques. The design of the Riau Batik Gallery in Pekanbaru
uses a qualitative descriptive method which is carried out in formulating problems
by collecting relevant literature studies as well as collecting observational data on
functions and similar design theories, so that they can find out the spaces needed in
the basic introduction of batik and design conceptions. The design location in
Pekanbaru City is closely related to Riau Malay culture so that it becomes a
reference in processing the design form of local architecture namely Malay
Architecture into the principles of Regionalism Architecture, so that the function of
the building that introduces local culture namely batik will be supported with the
forms and principles of Regionalism Architecture and trying to bring back the local
form. The result of the design of the Riau Batik Gallery in Pekanbaru is the
application of the concept of a growing tradition that takes the basic formation of
shoots of bamboo shoots, resulting in a mass formation that blends with the
formation of local architecture and produces activities or containers for the
introduction of batik and other facilities based on the size and space requirements
that have been earn.
