Adsorpsi Ion Fe Dalam Air Dengan Menggunakan Zeolit Dari Pofa
ABSTRACT
Iron is a heavy metal that is often found in water. One way to reduce iron
in water is by adsorption. This process uses an adsorbent to absorb metals and
other impurities. One of the adsorbents that can be used is zeolite from Palm Oil
Fly Ash (POFA). The resulting zeolite was used to adsorb iron in solution. This
study aimed to study the effect of pH, dose, contact time, and initial concentration
on the adsorption of Fe metal by zeolite synthesized from POFA and to study the
isotherm of the adsorption process that occurs. Based on the results of the study,
the optimum conditions were found at pH 5. at a dose of 3 g/L, and a contact time
of 15 minutes with Fe removal efficiency of 94.84%, 98.65%, and 98.63,
respectively. The maximum adsorption capacity of zeolite to Fe is 4.6598 mg/g
and follows the Langmuir isotherm adsorption mechanism which is indicated by
the value of R2 = 0.999
