Deiksis Dalam Novel Egosentris Karya Syahid Muhammad

This study aims to identify and describe the types and functions of
deixis in the novel Egosentris by Syahid Muhammad. This study uses a qualitative
approach using descriptive methods. The data source in this research is the novel
Egosentris by Syahid Muhammad. Based on the results of the study found 262
data types and functions of deixis. There are five types of deixis in novel
Egosentris by Syahid Muhammad, namely (1) person deixis, (2) place deixis, (3)
time deixis, (4) discourse deixis, and (5) social deixis. The deixis functions found
in the novel Egosentris by Syahid Muhammad, namely (1) the function of
personal deixis includes the function of referring to the person speaking, the
interlocutor, and the person being spoken of, (2) the function of place deixis
includes the function of referring to a place close to the speaker and away from
the speaker, (3) the function of time deixis includes the function of referring to
before the speech, during the speech, and after the speech, (4) the function of
discourse deixis includes the function of referring to things that have been
mentioned and things that will be mentioned, and (5) The function of social deixis
includes the function of distinguishing social levels between the speaker and the
interlocutor.
