ABSTRACT
Along with the development of technology in today's era, the internet is something that is needed by all aspects of human life because with the internet it is easy to communicate with people who are far away through various means of communication. PT. United Tracktors has implemented LAN and Wireless computer networks as a medium for exchanging data/information on public or commercial services, personnel and other important information. Constraints that often occur are email spam and duplicate names of office employees for irresponsible people who can access important data in the office, and there has also been a drastic increase in traffic when employees use computers. So to overcome this by designing a software system in the form of Snort which is run on the Ubuntu 16.04 operating system and the method used is the Intrusion Detection System (IDS). Retrieval of data by simulating an attack on a server computer where the computer stores important company data. The results of the test show that Snort can detect an attack and display the attacker's IP address, with the help of Portsentry the attacker's IP address will be blocked so that the attacker cannot take over company data.
