RESIDENT IN DRUGS REHABILITATION AT THE PEKANBARU

Cases of drug abuse from year to year show an increasing graph, drug abuse
is very influential on the future of this nation, drug abuse can be overcome by
rehabilitating the abuser, in Indonesia itself there are many drug rehabilitation
centers, one of which is a rehabilitation center in Riau Province, namely Yayasan
Pekanbaru Workshop, Pekanbaru Workshop Foundation has qualified therapeutic
methods, such as continuous MI and CBT methods with interpersonal
communication between counselors and drug abusers (Citizens). This study aims
to find out how openness of interpersonal communication is between counselors
and residents, how empathetic counselors and residents are, how is the attitude of
counselor assistance to residents, how is the counselor's positive attitude towards
residents and how is equality between counselors and residents. residents in drug
rehabilitation at the Pekanbaru Sarasehan Foundation.
This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, and uses
Social Penetration Theory. The subjects in this study were counselors and
residents of the Pekanbaru Sarasehan Foundation. The technique of determining
the research subject uses a purposive technique. In this study there were 6
informants. Data collection techniques used are interview, observation, and
documentation techniques. In addition, the technique of checking the validity of
the data uses the Triangulation Technique and the Participation Technique.
The results of this study indicate that counselors and residents at the
Pekanbaru Sarasehan Foundation use five aspects of Interpersonal
Communication during Rehabilitation counseling, the first aspect is openness,
counselors are seen making pleasantries before proceeding to therapeutic
methods and making good report cards at the beginning. meeting, and it looks like
the resident feels comfortable and familiar so that he is more open, the second
aspect is empathy, the counselor is able to understand the situation faced by the
resident, and does not judge the resident badly, the third aspect is a positive
attitude, the counselor provides friendliness, when speaking gives a smile and
attention to residents, the fourth aspect is supportive attitude, counseling provides
enthusiastic support to residents and provides emotional motivation, the fifth
aspect is equality, counselors seem to give a sense of kinship with residents,
residents consider counselors to be friends and tell stories, to complain about
their complaints.
