Dampak Kompetensi Profesional Terhadap Kinerja Guru Seni Budaya SMP Swasta Pekanbaru
This study aims to describe the effect of teacher professional competence
and material mastery ability on the performance of arts and culture teachers in
Pekanbaru Private Junior High School. Teachers basically have to have several
competencies in order to have the expected performance so that they can succeed
in educational goals. The success of education is determined by the performance
of good teachers, a teacher who has high performance must have a positive
attitude towards the work that has become his responsibility such as discipline,
work seriously, be responsible and so on. Based on free interviews with several
art teachers in Pekanbaru City, it is known that there are still many art teachers
who do not plan learning activity programs in accordance with the provisions.
This condition tends to be associated with the Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore,
in carrying out art activities, teachers tend to use videos published on YouTube.
This of course will slightly affect the authenticity of the learning given to children.
So that the uniqueness of learning cannot be presented in learning. Furthermore,
in learning activities teachers tend to only give assignments to students via
WhatsApp so that children do not understand task instructions well.
This type of research is descriptive quantitative research. The data
collection technique used was a questionnaire given to 85 teachers who were
randomly selected as samples using the census sampling method. The research
was conducted, namely the respondents gave responses to the questionnaire in the
form of a Likert scale. The data analysis technique used in this study is multiple
linear regression and data processing using the Statistical Package for Social
Science (SPSS) program.
Based on the results of the research, the ability to master the material has
an influence on the performance of the teacher, meaning that the better the ability
to master the material, the better the performance of the teacher in carrying out
his duties. This means that the ability to master the material is an important
variable to consider so that teacher performance can increase. With increasing
teacher performance, it will certainly have an impact on achieving predetermined
goals, a lot of work and school planning are accomplished and completed on
time. Understanding of professional development is very closely related to teacher
performance, meaning that the higher the understanding of professional
development will support better teacher performance. Therefore, an
understanding of professional development is an important thing to consider in
improving teacher performance. The ability to master the material and
understanding of professional development has an influence on teacher
performance, meaning that the better the ability to master the material
understanding of professional development, the better the performance of
teachers in carrying out their duties. This means that the ability to master the
