This study aims to determine the empowerment and constraints of the
Penempol Dried Fish business group in improving the Family Economy in Sungai
Geniot Village, Dumai City. The subjects of this study consisted of five people,
namely the Head of the SME Division of the Cooperative, SME and Community
Empowerment Service, Geniot River Village Head, Head of the Dried Fish
Business Group, Group Members, and Dried Fish Collectors.
The result of this research is that the Penempol Dried Fish Group has
previously formed a partnership with institutions and government but it has been
less effective, empowerment is carried out by empowering the community around
the Penempol area. And the obstacles in this production activity are internal
factors, human resources that are still not maximized so that the group still does
not take advantage of product innovations made to increase sales as well
as external factors, namely the difficulties in terms of the natural environment,
with access to travel so from residential areas. , as well as the extreme journey
and network difficulties at the location of the business group.
