Komposisi Sedimen Pantai Di Pulau Pasumpahan Kota Padang Sumatera Barat
ABSTRACT
This research was conducted in January-June 2022, at Pasumpahan Island, Padang City, West Sumatera. Data analysis was carried out at Chemical Oceanography Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, University of Riau .This research aims to determine the type of sediment composition and organic material in Pasumpahan Island. Sediment was taken using a grab sampler from 4 stations, where each station consisted of 1 sampling point. The sediment composition found was lithogeneous (rocks, mica, and quartz) and biogeneous (litter and poraminifera), dominated by lithogenous with a percentage of 96.8%, indicating that the sediment came from land and coastal erosion carried by ocean currents and then deposited on the bottom of the water. The average percentage of organic material 2.91% which is included in the classification of low organic material indicates a small supply of organic material.
