Komunikasi Pemasaran Dinas Pariwisata Provinsi Kepulauan Riau Dalam Meningkatkan Kunjungan Wisatawan
Marketing communication has an important role in the tourism sector. The importance of marketing communication in tourism is closely related to increasing tourist visits which have an effect on increasing the economic level of the country and local communities. As one of the regions that favors the tourism sector, Riau Islands Province in 2019 occupies the second position as foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia. Based on this data, the marketing communication of the Riau Islands Province Tourism Office is considered to have been successful. This is evidenced by the increase in foreign and domestic tourist arrivals in 2015-2019. For this reason, this research was conducted with the aim of knowing and analyzing how marketing communications were carried out by the Riau Islands Province Tourism Office.
This study uses a qualitative method and the description of the results is descriptive. This study involved seven informants consisting of two main informants and five secondary informants. The determination of this informant uses a purposive technique which refers to the relationship between the informant and the research problem. In order to describe the results of the study, the researchers used the methods of interview, observation, and documentation.
The results of the study indicate that the Riau Islands Province Tourism Office conducts marketing communications in the form of: (1) advertising includes the use of above the line media in the form of national and local television, local radio, and local digital mass media; the use of below the line media by distributing booklets and leaflets to all hotels in Riau Islands, seminars, and exhibitions; (2) personal selling which includes face-to-face communication activities by holding and participating in domestic and foreign exhibitions; (3) digital and social media marketing includes websites, social media, and applications; (4) sales promotion with coupons, tour packages and souvenirs; (5) public relations and publicity includes seminars, webinars, dialogues, FGDs, supporting community activities, maintaining good relations with journalists and stakeholders, and making publicity; (6) events and experiences that include activities to support tourism events with the launch of the Calendar of Event program; and (7) word of mouth includes voluntary recommendations from the local community and from the Riau Islands Province Tourism Office by uploading testimonials based on tourist uploads on their social media accounts
