Pergeseran Tradisi Ulaon Mangokal Holi Dalam Masyarakat Batak Toba Di Kecamatan Bandar Pasir Mandoge Kabupaten Asahan
The mangongkal holi ritual is a hereditary tradition of the Batak people
which is still carried out by the Batak people. Along with the development of the
times, the mangokal holi ritual tradition experienced many changes in the way it was
carried out and the meaning contained in each process of carrying out the mangokal
holi ceremony. The objectives of this research are 1) To find out the early history of
the ulaon mangokal holi tradition in the Toba Batak community in the North Sumatra
region 2) To find out the process of ulaon mangokal holi in Bandar Pasir Mandoge
District, Asahan Regency. 3) To find out the shift in the ulaon mangokal holi tradition
in Batak community in Bandar Pasir Mandoge District, Asahan Regency. The method
used in this research is the historical research method. The early history of the
implementation of the mangokal holi tradition has existed for a long time in the Batak
community even before the entry of Christianity in the Batak lands. The beginning of
the implementation of mangokal holi is to ask permission from all family parties from
the husband and wife clan groups, both biological and related to the clan association
(clan association). The shift in the mangokal holi tradition was caused by the
influence of Christianity on the rules made by the church to direct the Batak people to
conform to Christian teachings.
