Abstract
The fishing hooks thats commonly used by fishermen in Sungai Raya Waters are the O'shugnessy and J type. Main factors for the successful operation of fishing gear. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in catches from the two types of hooks used in longline fishing gear and their benefits, namely to provide data and information about the effectiveness of using longline hooks in the waters of the Raya River. The Method used in this study is a quantitative method in an experimental form, to determine differences in longline catches on 2 types of hooks that differ in total weight (kg), then data analysis is used with the t-test. The results of the T-test carried out on the data on the number of catches according to the number of individuals (tail) obtained T tab 1.833 while the T hit 0.73, then Thit < Ttab, it can be concluded that H0 accepted and H1 is rejected, meaning there is no there are many differences in catches using Type J and Type O'shugnessy hooks. The T-test of the catch according to the total weight (kg) obtained T tab 1.833 while the T hit 0.11, then Thit < Ttab, it can be concluded that H0 accepted and H1 is rejected, meaning that there is not much difference in catches with using Type J and Type O'shugnessy hooks.
