Strategi Pengembangan Agroindustri Gula Aren Di Kecamatan Rambah Samo Kabupaten Rokan Hulu

ABSTRACT
Aren (Arenga Pinnata Merr) is one type of palm plant which all parts of this plant
can be utilized and have high economic value. One of the products from the palm
plant is sap which can be processed into palm sugar. Rambah Samo District is one
of the sub-districts with the highest production in Rokan Hulu Regency. This
study aims to identify internal and external factors and formulate the best
development strategy for palm sugar agroindustry in Rambah Samo District. This
research was conducted in Rambah Samo District, Rokan Hulu Regency with a
survey method in November 2021. The research respondents were 5 palm sugar
craftsmen who were taken using the census method. The data analysis method
used is descriptive analysis. The data processing technique used descriptive
analysis, SWOT and AHP. The production process is carried out at the residence
of the business owner. preparation of materials and equipment, firewood, storage
for sap extraction and cooking and printing of sap takes approximately 3-4 hours
per production process and still uses traditional equipment. There are 2 marketing
channels in palm sugar agroindustry in Rambah Samo District, namely craftsmen
who sell directly to consumers and craftsmen who sell to retailers and retailers
who sell to consumers. There is no institutional group in this agro-industry so that
guidance from the relevant agencies is needed. The priority strategies for
developing palm sugar agroindustry that can be applied include: (1) apply the
standardization of palm sugar products; (2) improve quality and maintain prices;
(3) increase production capacity.
