Hubungan Kepemimpinan Kepala Sekolah Dan Budaya Sekolah Dalam Meningkatkan Kinerja Guru Madrasah Tsanawiyah Se-Kecamatan Dumai Selatan Kota Dumai
Teacher performance is the result, progress and work achievement of teachers in carrying out learning, both in planning, implementing the learning process and evaluating learning outcomes, conducting guidance and training for students, as well as their commitment to carrying out tasks. One of the external factors that determine teacher performance is school culture and the next factor that has a relationship with teacher performance is the role of the principal as a leader. When viewed from the condition of Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Dumai Selatan District, Dumai City, the researchers found that there were phenomena related to teacher performance problems, both from leadership problems, and school culture carried out by teachers. These phenomena are: (a) weak leadership of the principal. (b) the attitude of the principal is different for each teacher. (c) the lack of cohesiveness among teachers, and (d) the lack of self-discipline owned by each teacher.
The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the relationship between the principal's leadership and the performance of MTs teachers in Dumai Selatan District, Dumai City. To find out and analyze the relationship between school culture and the performance of MTs teachers in Dumai Selatan District, Dumai City. In addition, this study also aims to determine and analyze the relationship between principal leadership and school culture with the performance of MTs teachers in Dumai Selatan District, Dumai City.
The method used in this study uses quantitative research with descriptive studies to provide an accurate description of the situation or event. The population in this study were MTs teachers in Dumai Selatan District, Dumai City, amounting to 98 people. Determination of the number of samples was carried out using the Slovin formula. The sample in this study was 79 of 98 teachers. The technique used in sampling is proportional random sampling. The data collection technique used in this research is a questionnaire. Questionnaire is a data collection technique that is done by giving a set of written statements to respondents to answer. The questionnaire in this study consisted of statement items related to the principal's leadership, school culture and teacher performance. The technique used in data analysis is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis.
The results of the descriptive research show that the teacher performance category is in the medium category, which is 27 (34.18)%, the principal leadership category is in the medium category, which is 25 (31.64%), the school culture category is in the medium category, which is 28 ( 35,44)%. Based on the hypothesis test and the correlation coefficient, it was found that, firstly, the results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between the principal's leadership and teacher performance. 0.671 which indicates the correlation interpretation is in the strong category. This means that the level of closeness of the principal's leadership relationship (X1) with teacher performance (Y) is very close. This means that teacher performance is influenced by the principal's leadership by 0.671 or 67.1% while the remaining 32.9% is influenced by other variables.
Second, the second hypothesis which reads that the results of the study indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between school culture and teacher performance. The correlation coefficient r = 0.661 which indicates the correlation interpretation is in the strong category. This means that the level of closeness of the relationship between school culture (X2) and teacher performance (Y) is very close. This means that teacher performance is influenced by school culture by 0.661 or 66.1% while the remaining 33.9%.
Third, the third hypothesis which reads that the results of the study show the relationship between principal leadership and school culture together with teacher performance resulting in a correlation coefficient of 0.778. This shows the level of simultaneous relationship between principal leadership (X1) and school culture (X2) with teacher performance (Y). The strength of the relationship between the principal's leadership (X1) and teacher performance with the person correlation between school culture (X2) and teacher performance (Y) of 0.778 or 77.8% while the remaining 22.2% is influenced by other factors.
