The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of work motivation on the performance of high school science teachers in the city of Dumai, analyze the effect of principal supervision on the performance of high school science teachers in the city of Dumai, and analyze the effect of work motivation and principal supervision on the performance of high school science teachers in the city of Dumai. This study uses an ex post facto (non-experimental) approach with a correlational design. So that in this study, there is no treatment of research variables but rather examines the facts that have occurred and have been carried out by research subjects.
The research was conducted at SMAN Dumai City, from March 2022 to September 2022. The population of this research was 89 teachers. To measure the sample size to be studied, the researcher uses the Slovin formula, where this formula is able to measure the sample size to be studied. So the number of samples used after being rounded up is 71 people. The instrument used in this research is a questionnaire. The questionnaire in this study used a Likert scale. data analysis techniques in quantitative research using statistics. There are two kinds of statistics used for data analysis in research, namely descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics are statistics used to analyze data by describing or describing the data that has been collected as it is without intending to make conclusions that apply to the public. In this study, hypothesis testing uses simple linear regression analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. In testing the hypothesis for the relationship X1 to Y and X2 to Y using the t test, meanwhile to test the hypothesis of the relationship X1 and X2 together with Y using the F test.
Based on data analysis and discussion, the researcher can conclude the results of the study as follows (a) There is a positive and significant effect of work motivation (X1) on teacher performance (Y), seen in the sig value of 0.010. . Work motivation is closely related to behavior and performance. The higher a person's motivation in doing work, the better his behavior in its implementation so as to provide better work performance, (b) There is a positive and significant influence of academic supervision (X2) on teacher performance (Y), as seen from the value of sig smaller than a probability value of 0.05, or a value of 0.003 < 0.05. Means that academic supervision greatly affects the performance of teachers on duty in providing learning to students, (c) There is a positive and significant influence on work motivation (X1) and academic supervision (X2) on teacher performance (Y), seen in the F test table it is known that Sig value 0.000. This means that if work motivation increases and the implementation of good academic supervision will increase teacher performance.
