The Effectiveness Of Using Grammarly Toward The Writing Quality Of Eleventh-Grade Students At SMA Negeri 1 Ujung Batu
Grammarly gets a lot of attention because many students make mistakes in writing, so they need it as a medium for correcting writing errors. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using Grammarly toward the students' writing quality of eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Ujung Batu. In particular, this study explores if there is any significant effect of Grammarly on student’s writing quality in terms of grammatical accuracy, capitalization, spelling, and punctuation. This is a quantitative research using pre-experimental method. The subject consists of 30 students selected using purposive sampling technique. The data were collected from a pretest and a posttest of writing an explanation text written before and after being corrected using Grammarly. The hypothesis test was conducted using Wilcoxon Test. It shows that Asymp. Sig. is 0.000 < 0.05 with the mean of pre-test is 63.3 and post-test is 82.76. It can be concluded that the Grammarly has a significant effect toward students' writing quality of eleventh grade at SMA Negeri 1 Ujung Batu. This study implies that the Grammarly can be useful as a learning media as self-editing for students to improve their writing ability.
