Strategi Pengelolaan Sampah Di Kecamatan Mandau Kabupaten Bengkalis Provinsi Riau
Nowadays, there are many waste problems that occur in Indonesia,
especially in Mandau District. One of the problems that occurred in Mandau
District was the accumulation of waste due to the unavailability of temporary
disposal sites (TPS) around the community which caused the community to
dispose of waste indiscriminately. Therefore it is necessary to establish
appropriate policies in carrying out sustainable waste management in Mandau
District.
This study aims to analyze the existing conditions of waste management,
the factors that influence it and to formulate a waste management strategy in
Mandau, Bengkalis. It is hoped that this research will become material for
consideration for the local government and the authorities in formulating waste
management policies in Mandau District.
To answer the above objectives, field surveys, questionnaires and in-depth
interviews with stakeholders. Ecological, social and economic data were analyzed
descriptively. While the SWOT analysis is used to formulate a waste management
strategy in Mandau.
The results of the study show that the population and waste generation are
increasing every year, waste management refers to Law of the Republic of
Indonesia No.18/2008, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, waste
management technology that is not widely known by the public, information
systems that are facilitating the waste management and the community to the
realization of good funds.
The strategy formulated in Mandau waste management is in quadrant I,
namely the SO (Strength-Opportunities) strategy. The strategy that can be carried
out by the Regional Government in the future is to improve facilities and
infrastructure in waste management for better waste management, increase
attention to officers by providing incentives so that the waste management process
runs well and increase outreach to the community through information systems to
introduce technology in management of the generated waste.
