Karakteristik Pengendara Sepeda Motor Dan Penggunaan Helm Di Kota Pekanbaru Provinsi Riau

ABSTRACT
Helmets are used as standard head protection when driving which serves to protect and reduce the impact of head injuries due to accidents involving motorbikes. This study aims to determine the characteristics and opportunities for helmet use in Pekanbaru City, this study uses primary data. Primary data was obtained from direct observation in the field by giving questionnaires to 110 respondents who passed the research location, namely the HR.Suebrantas section, Tuanku Tambusai section, Riau section and Jenderal Sudirman section. The method in this study used descriptive analysis and logistic regression analysis. The results of this study show that the total behavior of motorcyclists using helmets in Pekanbaru City at the research location is as much as185,879 vehicles with a percentage (91%), while drivers who behave not using helmets while driving are 18,661 vehicles with a percentage (9%). The highest number of motorcycle riders using helmets was on section Jenderal Sudirman at 07.00-09.00 WIB with a total of 6,771 vehicles. Based on the characteristics of motorcyclists, there are 12 variables that have a relationship with helmet use, namely: age, education level, occupation, use of SNI helmets, reasons for using helmets, passenger capacity, traffic compliance, straps, distance traveled, duration of riding, main reason for violating regulation and head injury. The variables that have the most influence on the use of helmets are the use of SNI helmets with an influence level of 37.7% and the level of compliance of drivers with traffic regulations with an influence level of 27.7%. Characteristics of the highest opportunity to use a helmet while riding a motorbike based on valueodds rassio namely the age variable with a value of 8.101 times compared to other variables.
