The porang chopper machine plays an important role in the flouring process,
porang tubers that have been cut or commonly called porang chips will dry
quickly so it doesn't take a long time. At present, many home industries use a
simple method, namely using manual cutting tools so that it requires a lot of
energy and a long time. This final project aims to obtain a porang chopper
machine with a capacity of 500 kg/hour so that the time required to chop porang
is shorter. The design of this vertical feeding type porang chopper machine uses
machine components consisting of: a shaft with a diameter of 22.23 mm and a
length of 400 mm, a knife disc with a diameter of 400 mm with a thickness of 4.6
mm and a number of knife holders as much as 2, the knife used with 165 mm in
length and an average thickness of 2 mm. The conclusion obtained in this solution
is this vertical feed type porang chopper machine uses a 1/2 HP electric motor
with a rotation of 1400 rpm. The components of this machine consist of a shaft
with a diameter of 22.23 mm and a length of 400 mm, a blade disc with a
diameter of 400 mm and a thickness of 4.6 mm and a blade holder with a width of
140 mm, a height of 20 mm, a blade width of 165 mm and a height of 40 mm. mm,
then the plate used to insert porang with a diameter of 140 mm with a plate
thickness of 2 mm, this vertical feeding type porang chopper can chop 1 porang in
3 seconds/porang.
