Pengaruh Pembelajaran Socioscientific Inquiry Based Learning (SSILB) Terhadap Kemampuan Literasi Sains Dan Learning Environment Mahasiswa Pada Materi Kinetika Kimia
This research is motivated by various problems faced by lecturers and
students in facing the challenges of the 21st century. Knowledge has a role to
synthesize the information received. The level of individual success as an
educated individual in the 21st century is not only measured by the ability to
digest knowledge, but the extent to which individuals are able to use knowledge as
a means of increasing self-capacity. Based on PISA and TIMSS measurements,
Indonesian students are still in the low category with regard to their literacy and
science abilities. The SSIBL model can improve students' scientific literacy skills
by prioritizing understanding of issues and finding related literature through
inquiry steps. The application of a model is closely related to the effectiveness of
learning. This effectiveness can be measured from the learning environment
created. The SSIBL model can improve student learning environment in its
application in chemical kinetics material.
This study aims to: 1) determine the level of scientific literacy of students
participating in SSIBL and scientific learning, 2) knowing the level of learning
environment of students participating in SSIBL and scientific learning, 3) knowing
the difference between scientific literacy and learning environment, scientific
literacy, and learning environment between students participating in learning
using the scientific approach and the SSIBL model in chemical kinetics material,
4) knowing the percentage of the effective contribution of the SSIBL model to
scientific literacy and learning environment, scientific literacy, and student
learning environment in chemical kinetics material.
The type of research used was quasi-experimental research with the
Nonequivalend pretest posttest control group design consisting of an experimental
class and a control class. The dependent variable in this study consists of
scientific literacy and learning environment and the dependent variable is the
SSIBL model. The population in this study were all students of FKIP, University
of Riau who took the Basic Chemistry I course for the 2022/2023 Academic Year.
The researcher used a purposive sampling technique so that the samples were
determined as the first level students of the Chemistry Education study program
which consisted of 69 students. The research instrument used first went through
the stages of content validation and empirical validation. Empirical validation
was carried out on 30 respondents. The results of the validity of the scientific
literacy test instrument have a Cronbach Alpha value = 0.880 while the WIHIC
questionnaire to measure the learning environment has a Cronbach Alpha value
= 0.962.
The MANOVA test is a data analysis technique in this study. The test was used to
see the effect of the SSIBL and scientific models on scientific literacy and student
learning environment in univariate and multivariate ways. Univariate learning
models (SSIBL and Scientific) have an influence on students' scientific literacy
scores and learning environment. The partial eta squared value is used to show
xvi
the percentage contribution of the SSIBL model learning model to scientific
literacy skills, learning environment, and scientific literacy and learning
environment. The percentage contribution of the SSIBL model to scientific literacy
skills and learning environment is 75.4%. The percentage of the contribution of
the SSIBL model to scientific literacy is 33.8%. The percentage of the contribution
of the SSIBL model to the learning environment is 70.0%. Based on the research
results and data analysis, it was concluded that there was an influence of the
SSIBL model on scientific literacy, learning environment, and scientific literacy
and learning environment.
