The study was to learn the management of the Kencong River attractions
as an effort to promote the welfare of people in Kampung Pinang Sebatang Barat
Kecamatan Tualang Kabupaten Siak and to know synergy partnership between
government and society in boostering community welfare around destinations.
The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach, based on data collected
through interviews,personal document, memo notes and other official document.
The data analysis technique used is descriptive.
Research found a synergy of the government and of the community in
which the Sungai Kencong tourist attraction was developed in three forms:
Communication, from the research done by Siak Distric’s tourism service never to
communicate on the Sungai Kencong tourist development strategy.Coordination,
from the research carried out by the Siak district’s tourism service, has neither
done zocialized coordination nor encouraged local communities to evaluate
Sungai Kencong in Kampung Pinang Sebatang Barat. Promotion, from the
research conducted by POKDARWIS and the people of the village have beeen
doing field trips Sungai Kencong in Kampung Pinang Sebatang Barat through
special evet-events by presenting profile related information and tourism
potential’s Sungai Kencong. So many non-local tourists are visiting the Sungai
Kencong tours in Kampung Pinang Sebatang Barat.
