Pembuatan Lilin Aromaterapi Minyak Atsiri Kulit Buah Jeruk Manis Berbahan Baku Stearin Dan Parafin
ABSTRACT
Aromatherapy candles is a diversification of wax products that are infused with essential oils. This study aimed to obtain the best ratio of stearin and paraffin wax to the quality of candle in accordance with SNI 06–0386–1989. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) experiment consisting of 5 treatments and 3 repetitions. The treatment used is the ratio of stearin and paraffin among others. SP1 (ratio of stearin and paraffin 50:50), SP2 (ratio of stearin and paraffin 60:40), SP3 (ratio of stearin and paraffin 70:30), SP4 (ratio of stearin and paraffin 80:20) and SP5 (ratio of stearin and paraffin 90:10) from 40 g of material weight. The data were analyzed statistically by ANOVA, and continued by duncan's new multiple range test (DMRT) at 5% level. The results showed the ratio of stearin and paraffin significantly melting point test, burn time test, air bubble, candle hollow, and overall acceptance. The best treatment was SP1 (ratio of stearin and paraffin 50:50). The product had a melting point test of 57.90°C, a burn time test 4.40 hours, and air bubble test of normal, slightly concave, and an overall rating with a score of 4.20 (like).
