ABSTRACT
Coffee is one of the export commodities originating from the plantation sector, which means Indonesia's leading commodity. West Sumatra is one of the 10 provinces that contribute the largest coffee production in Indonesia. This is demonstrated by the achievement, namely the receipt of the MURI record of 4,000 Kawa Coffee with the "Sayak Karambia" glass at the Minangkabau Cultural Festival (FBM) and the Nusantara Palace Festival, and the recipient as the best developing tourism village in 2022, with coffee-based batik in the Village. Pariangan. However, this is not accompanied by proper facilities for coffee farmers to carry out pre-harvest and post-harvest processes, because coffee farmers still use conventional machines and lack knowledge about this, and there is no research and development center for coffee plants. To support and accommodate coffee farmers, so that they can increase the productivity, quality and quality of the results of the coffee plant, and it is hoped that it will become a center for producing coffee seeds in West Sumatra, a Coffee Plant Research and Development Center is needed which can accommodate farmers in improve the quality of cultivation, and postharvest production, so as to produce excellent coffee quality. The design of the Coffee Plant Research and Development Center will use the Biophilic Architecture theme approach which can create a positive relationship between humans, nature and architecture so that the design of this building can have a positive impact on the physiological, psychological and cognitive of its users. In addition, cultivation activities and the development of post-harvest coffee production are more effective, so that the community can continue to develop better knowledge about coffee in the future.
