Penerapan Daylighting Pada Rusunawa Universitas Riau
ABSTRACT
The need for housing becomes important when continuing studies in
distant places. Pekanbaru itself is one of the areas that is an option for continuing
higher education from public and private educational institutions. To improve the
quality of adequate campus services, the University of Riau built residential
facilities for male students, namely flats. So, for students who come from out of
town can live in flats provided by the campus. Rusunawa currently consists of 5
floors. this is a challenge for multi-storey residential buildings to meet the
intensity of light in the building. The purpose of this study was to find out how
natural lighting is at Rusunawa, University of Riau. The author uses a qualitative
method with the Miles and Huberman method which after the writer has obtained
the required data, the writer will reduce the data, then present the data with
pictures and tables and draw conclusions. The author will also carry out
simulations using software to compare with data obtained from the field. In the
data collection process, there are several places that do not get natural lighting,
such as the stairs leading to the 2nd to 4th floors which have the highest light
intensity of 15 lux and bathrooms which have a light intensity below 50lux. If
conforming to existing standards, natural lighting standards for bedrooms are 200-
300lux, bathrooms 100-300lux, corridors and stairs 50-100lux. In addition, there
are several factors that cause a lack of equal distribution of natural lighting in
buildings such as spatial planning, color and texture. Thus it can be concluded that
natural lighting should be implemented in flats to meet the visual comfort of
building users and can be a solution for saving electricity use.
