Prarancangan Pabrik Hidrazin Dari Amonia Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Hidrazin (R-102)
ABSTRACT
Hydrazine is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula N2H4 which is a colorless flammable liquid with an ammonia-like odor. Hydrazine is also known as Diamine or Diazane or Nitrogen hydride and is a strong base. In this final project a plant design from ammonia will be carried out. The pre-designed hydrazine plant also used ammonia and sodium hydroxide as raw materials for sodium hypochlorate and chlorine. The process chosen in the manufacture of Hydrazine from ammonia is the Raschig Process. This selection is based on the results of hydrazine conversion, the amount of raw material needed, reaction time, and economic aspects. Hydrazine conversion reached 99% at 130°C using 1 continuous stirred-tank reactor (CSTR) reactor. In the process of making hydrazine using the Raschig process, referring to Patent US6517798B1 (Jean et al., 1974). The stages of the hydrazine manufacturing process include the preparation of raw materials, the reaction process for forming hydrazine, the separation process, and also the purification process. The factory's production capacity is 16,000 tons/year.
Keywords: Hydrazine, Ammonia, Racshig Process.
