Prarancangan Pabrik Metil Ester Dari CrudePalm Oil (Cpo) Menggunakan ProsesDeodorization Dengan Disain Alat UtamaStripper (Ffa)
ABSTRACT
Fatty acid methyl esters play a major role in the oleochemical industry. Methyl esters replace
fatty acids as starting materials for many oleochemicals. Another potential use of methyl esters
is as a substitute for diesel oil. Methyl ester is clean combustion without sulfur dioxide
emissions. Even though the combustion heat is slightly lower, no engine adjustment is required
and there is no loss in efficiency. The demand for methyl esters in Indonesia is expected to
continue to increase along with the development of technology that uses methyl esters as fuel.
The purpose of establishing this factory is to meet 25% of the demand for methyl esters in
Indonesia. In addition, it is also profitable for farmers as producers of raw materials and can
create new jobs. then the capacity of the methyl ester plant from Crude Palm Oil (CPO) with
the transesterification process to be designed is 250,000 tons / year, in accordance with the
average capacity of the methyl ester factory of CPO in Asia of 250,000 tons / year. This
capacity is expected to meet domestic needs and be exported abroad. The methyl ester
production process from CPO is carried out through a pretreatment and transesterification
process which consists of 3 stages, namely the acid degumming stage, the bleaching stage, the
filtration stage, and the deodorization stage with the help of steam and the product separation
stage. The main design is a stripper (FFA) which is used to separate the coagulant residue
(FFAD) that is still in CPO (RDBPO) which still contains aroma and odor. The economic
analysis of this pre-designed factory obtained a Return On Investment Percent (% ROI) of 58%,
a payback period (PBP) of 1.67 years, BEP of 35% and an IRR of 24,1635%. %. From the
results of the economic feasibility analysis above, it can be concluded that the methyl ester
factory is feasible to build. The establishment of this factory was also based on the progress of
the Indonesian economic sector. With the increasing industrial development in Indonesia, it is
estimated that the demand for methyl ester raw material in the coming years will also increase.
