ABSTRACT
The income and expenditure of a household is a benchmark in determining household welfare. A very important measure to see the welfare of farmers is household income, because several aspects of welfare depend on the income level of farmers. If the condition of a household's income is limited, the household will prioritize spending on food consumption needs. The purpose of this study was to analyze the income structure, consumption patterns, factors that influence consumption patterns and the level of welfare of the households of self-supporting oil palm smallholders in Rokan Hulu Regency. The analysis used to answer the objective is an analysis of the structure of farmer household income, analyzing food and non-food consumption patterns, using multinomial logistic regression methods, descriptive and poverty line. The results of the study found that the largest income structure analysis was work income from independent sources of oil palm farming of IDR 2,902,174 per month. The consumption pattern of self-supporting oil palm farmer households shows that most households have less food expenditure than non-food expenditure, where non-food expenditure is 53.74%. The dominant factors that significantly influence the independent pattern of household consumption of oil palm smallholders are income, investment in education, and the number of family members. Factors that do not significantly influence food consumption patterns are length of education and worker status. Based on a comparison of expenditure per capita with the poverty line in Rokan Hulu Regency, there are still 28.88 percent of farmers who are not prosperous.
