Karakteristik Briket Arang Ampas Tebu Dan Arang Kulit Buah Pinang
ABSTRACT
Bagasse and areca fruit peels are biomass waste that can be utilized as an
alternative energy source in the form of charcoal briquettes because they contain
lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose. The purpose of this study was to obtain the
best ratio of bagasse charcoal and areca fruit peel charcoal as a quality briquette in
accordance with SNI briquettes 01-6235-2000. The research was conducted
experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five
treatments and three replications. The treatments in this study were the ratio of
bagasse charcoal and areca fruit peel charcoal (100:0), (75:25), (50:50), (25:75),
and (0:100). Observational data obtained were statistically analyzed using
ANOVA and followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5%
level. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance
(ANOVA) followed by Duncan multiple range test (DNMRT) at the 5% level.
The results of variance showed that the comparison of bagasse charcoal and areca
fruit peel charcoal had a significant effect on moisture content, ash content, bound
carbon content, volatile substance content and calorific value. The best treatment
in this study was KP4 bagasse charcoal and areca fruit peel charcoal (25:75), with
moisture content of 7.63%, ash content of 7.98%, volatile matter content of
14.19%, bound carbon content of 68.73% and calorific value of 5,111.14 cal/g.
