METABOLIC PROFILE IN BREAST CANCER PATIENTS AT ARIFIN ACHMAD HOSPITAL RIAU PROVINCE IN 2020 – 2021

Breast Cancer is the second most common cause for female death. According to WHO in 2018, it is the most common type of cancer for female patients. It affected 2,1 million females every year. It is estimated that 627,000 female death are caused by breast cancer, this constitute 15% of cancer-related death for females. Metabolic Profile is a parameter that is commonly used to evaluate the metabolic condition of an individual or group. That parameter includes Body Mass Index (BMI), The rise of blood sugar level, and the rise of lipid profile. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between the metabolic profile and breast cancer. This was a retrospective study with descriptive method, data collection for the metabolic profile is obtained from observing the patient’s medical records in the Arifin Achmad Hospital. The research sample was 142 patients diagnosed with breast cancer between the year 2020 – 2021. The result for the BMI showed that the most common type of BMI is for the obesity category, with 57 patient with obesity (40.2 %), meaning there is a potential correlation between BMI and breast cancer. For the blood sugar level, the result showed that the most common type of blood sugar is the normal category, with 107 patients with normal blood sugar level (75.1%), meaning potentially there is no correlation between blood sugar level and breast cancer. The result for lipid showed that the most common type of lipid profile is the abnormal type, with 118 patients with abnormal low density lipoprotein (76.1%), meaning there is a potential correlation between the lipid profile and breast cancer.
