Vesicovaginal fistula (FVV) is a condition characterized by an opening between the bladder and vagina that causes continuous urine seepage through the vagina. It is still a serious social problem in developing countries, and has adverse psychosocial effects on sufferers. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of patients with vaginal vesico fistula at Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province, 2017-2021. The research design used was descriptive retrospective. The sample of this study was taken from the medical records of FVV patients recorded at Arifin Achmad Hospital Riau Province for the period 2017-2021 who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Of the 19 medical records sampled, it was found that the prevalence of FVV patients was mostly found at the age of >40 years, namely 12 cases (53.1%), most of which occurred due to hysterectomy surgery, namely 10 cases (52.6%), and the majority of FVV patients experienced complex fistula, namely 17 cases (89.5%). In addition, 13 cases (68.4%) of FVV occurred in women with multiparous parity status, with the transvaginal surgical approach being the most common management option at 14 cases (73.7%). And based on the fistula repair operator, 13 cases (68.4%) of FVV were performed by the Urologists. This study shows that most cases of FVV in RSUD Arifin Achmad are caused by hysterectomy surgery.
