Karakteristik Fisik Profil Tanah Gambut Ombrogen Di Desa Meskom Kabupaten Bengkalis
ABSTRACT
Peatland has various characteristics, both spatially and vertically. One of the factors that affect peat characteristics is peat thickness. There will be the differences between characteristics of the peat on the peat dome and the peat in another area. The aim of this study was to identify the characteristics of the peat soil profile including peat color, peat maturity, moisture content, volume weight, and fiber content, as well as construct a pattern of relationship between peat characteristics namely water content, volume weight and peat fiber content with peat thickness vertically. Observation of peat characteristics and soil sampling was conducted in Meskom Village, Bengkalis Regency. Peat soil profiles were observed and analyzed by 20 cm of peat depth. Data were analyzed using Pearson Correlation and Simple Linear Regression at 5% confidence level to determine the relationship between peat thickness and peat soil characteristics (water content, volume weight, and fiber content). The results showed that the top layer of peat tends to be darker in color than the bottom layer of peat. Peat maturity levels at various thicknesses and depths show a sapric-hemic-fibric pattern at both observation locations. Correlation analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between fiber content with peat thickness, but there is no significant correlation between moisture content and volume weight with peat thickness at point P1. At point P2, it was found that all the peat characteristics (moisture content, volume weight, and fiber content) had a significant correlation with the peat thickness.
