Tata Cara Perkawinan Suku Mandailing Di Kecamatan Mandau Pada Era Globalisasi

The Mandailing tribe is one of the ethnic groups that inhabit parts of South
Tapanuli Regency and Mandailing Natal Regency, North Sumatra. Until now the Mandailing
tribe has spread to various regions in the archipelago, including in the Mandau District,
Bengkalis Regency. Most of them work in agriculture but there are also those who work outside
of agriculture. The objectives of this study are 1.) To find out the beginning of the entry of the
marriage procedures for the Mandailing tribe in Mandau District, 2.) To find out the procedures
for marriage for the Mandailing tribe in the Mandau District before the era of globalization, 3.)
To find out the procedures for marriage for the Mandailing tribe in Mandau District in the era
of globalization. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. The data
collection techniques are observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this
research are in 1957 as the beginning of the entry of the Mandailing tribe in the Mandau subdistrict
as well as the entry of marriage procedures brought by the Mandailing tribe. The large
number of Mandailing tribes living and living in the Mandau sub-district shows that the
Mandau sub-district has sufficient economic potential. Their arrival to the Mandau sub-district
was to make changes in their lives economically and also their desire to get to know the wider
outside world. The marriage procedure for the Mandailing tribe before the era of globalization
in the Mandau sub-district had 18 stages and after the globalization era the marriage procedure
for the Mandailing tribe in the Mandau sub-district had 10 stages. Factors that influence the
change in marriage procedures for the Mandailing tribe in the Mandau sub-district are
communication, the economy, the inclusion of other cultures, time and education.
