ABSTRACT
The business opportunity for coconut shell charcoal briquettes in Indonesia is very large. Utilization of coconut fruit is oriented towards fruit flesh to be used as copra, oil and coconut milk for household needs, while by-products such as coconut shells have not been utilized much. Modifications were made to the blade, namely changing the distance between the fixed blade and the moving blade, which was originally 5-7 mm modified to 2-5 mm. This test was carried out with the aim of looking at some of the optimal modifications to the blade spacing for grinding charcoal briquettes. It was concluded that the distance between the blade and the grinding was very influential. The smaller the spacing of the blades, the finer the resulting charcoal, and the greater the spacing of the blades, the coarser the resultingcharcol.
