ABSTRACT
Tidal energy is energy that harnesses potential energy due to the movement of seawater. To determine the feasibility of planning a tidal power plant, an analysis of the potential of tidal energy at the plant planning site is required. Indragiri Hilir Regency has considerable tidal energy potential. However, most of the sources of electrical energy in Indragiri Hilir Regency are sourced from PLTD and PLTU. Especially in the Pulau Burung Subdistrict which only utilizes electrical energy sources from Diesel power plants. The diesel power plant in Pulau Burung Subdistrict only operates for 14 hours (16:00 – 07:00) WIB. From these limitations, a source of electrical energy is needed to play the need for electrical energy in the Pulau Burung District. One of the sources of electrical energy that can be utilized in the Pulau Burung District as a coastal area is tidal energy (tidal power). The energy potential analysis carried out includes plant planning, determination of heads, turbines, generators, and potential energy contained in seawater. This research will discuss the potential of tidal electrical energy in desa Pulau Burung kecamatan Pulau Burung kabupaten Indragiri Hilir Riau. From the results of the research conducted, an average energy of 200.6 Mw was obtained with a pool area of 13,500 m2 and a voleume pool of 37,260 m3 in December 2021.
