ABSTRACT
The increasing number of two-wheeled and wheeled vehicles at Medical Faculty of Riau University will have a huge impact on parking availability and result in irregular parking of four-wheeled vehicles along campus roads. This study aims to analyze the characteristics and needs of parking lots at the Medical Faculty of Riau University. The Medical Faculty is an academic unit that has a large number of students and teaching staff. In this context, adequate parking space becomes important to meet the increasing parking needs along with the growth in the number of users. This study used survey data for 5 days (13 March 2023 – 17 March 2023) from 07.00 AM to 06.00 PM by making direct observations in the parking lot of the Medical Faculty of Riau University, where all vehicles entering and leaving could be observed. time of entry and exit as well as record the number plat of the vehicle. The results of the survey data obtained were then processed and showed several characteristics including, the highest parking accumulation was for two-wheeled vehicles with a total of 191 vehicles. The highest parking volume with the number of two-wheeled vehicles is 519 vehicles, and the current need for parking space is 103 parking lots. The parking index shows figures exceeding 100%, namely around 148.84% and 222.09% of the parking capacity that has been provided, this is due to parking accumulation and very high parking volume.
