Analisis Indeks Kekeringan Meteorologis Dan Karakteristik Kebakaran Lahan Gambut Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Timur
The area with the third largest peatland area in Sumatra is Jambi, which is
736,227.20 ha or 14% of Jambi's area. East Tanjung Jabung Regency is an area
that has a high potential for land fires to occur, either due to the actions of the
community or companies. Peatland fires in this area are closely related to
meteorological factors, namely the lack of rainfall as a source of fire
extinguishers. The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of land
fires in East Tanjung Jabung Regency by knowing drought conditions using the
Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) method over a period of eight years,
namely 2013 to 2020. Meteorological drought index analysis can be calculated
and used as a basis for predicting the potential impact of drought so that
mitigation measures can be implemented as quickly as possible long before a
drought occurs. The characteristics of peat fires in this study were carried out
using the image processing method through a Geographic Information System
(GIS) by overlaying hotspot data and Landsat imagery to obtain the distribution
and trend of occurrence of peatland fires from year to year. The calculation of the
SPI value uses the amount of monthly rainfall obtained from CHIRPS rainfall
data. The results of the study identified the distribution of the highest Hotspot
data and the recurrence of fires in East Tanjung Jabung Regency located in the
sub-districts of Dendang, Sadu, and Berbak with a consecutive number of 871,
676, and 685 hotspots. 2019 October with very very dry classification. The
relationship between drought conditions and the incidence of fires in East
Tanjung Jabung Regency shows that the occurrence of fires (hotspots) is prone to
increase along with the occurrence of drought. The results of analysis of fire
incident data are prone to occur when the SPI value is -1.50 to more than -2.00
with a very dry to classification.
