Pengaruh Latihan Interval Training Terhadap Peningkatan Vo2 Max Atlet Renang Tirta Kaluang Club Pasaman Barat
The Indonesian Swimming Association (PRSI) is the leading organization that develops athletes from an early age. Renan is one of three sports that must be competed in multi-event sporting events such as the Asian Games, Olympics, PON and SEA Games apart from gymnastics and athletics. In swimming there are four swimming styles, namely butterfly (butterfly stroke), breaststroke (breaststroke), backstroke (backstroke) and freestyle (crawl stroke). There are many swimming competition numbers. This competition involves male and female swimming athletes from different age groups: Senior Age Group or 18+, Age Group I or 15-17, Age Group II or 13-15, Group III or 11-13, Age Group IV or under 10 years (Kasiyo, 1980:11).
An effort that must be carried out in a programmed manner is the goal of the athlete coach in achieving achievement. Success in swimming is not solely from the available facilities or individual efforts, but from planned scientific and technological research. He has a role in the Scientific and Technological approach to Sports Training (IPTEK) as a coaching effort in the process of improving sports performance (Yunyun Yudiana, 2009).
The ability of an organism to carry out activities, both static and dynamic, as long as possible without reducing the quality of work is called Endurance. Increases ability to take in needed oxygen. Large amounts of energy are the body's needs, the availability of oxygen in the lungs, with higher physical strength resulting in higher body endurance and is influenced by the need for large amounts of energy. Sports that require high endurance, one of which is swimming. Maximum oxygen absorption by the lungs plays an important role in achieving the desired performance. When the body's ability to utilize oxygen optimally is compromised, it will be more difficult to build a strong body that can withstand long periods of activity.
In terms of swimming training, there are a number of goal elements that can be clearly achieved: physical performance, and each swimming style is categorized as aerobic exercise that can be trained to increase Vo2 Max performance. This exercise is relatively long and vigorous, involves large muscles, and improves heart-lung rhythm. Increased Vo2 Max allows swimmers to perform interval training. Interval training is training where rest/intervals are alternated with exercise
high intensity, where rest/intervals are repeated continuously and the intensity is continuous. (Ahmad et al., 2020)
The researchers concluded that VO2 Max plays an important role in an athlete's success, supported by the athlete's hard work to increase their VO2 Max ability. VO2 Max is known as maximum aerobic power or maximum aerobic capacity. To support body performance requires a high maximum aerobic capacity. According to Ariadi (2012), interval training is specifically aimed at increasing body endurance.
One of them in swimming coaching is the Tirta Kaluang Club West Pasaman, West Sumatra as a forum responsible for coaching swimming. The main objectives of establishing the Tirta Kaluang Club, West Pasaman, West Sumatra are:
1) promote and develop water sports activities from kindergarten age; 2) increasing breeding and water sports activities; and 3) support the achievement of swimming sporting achievements at local, national and international levels. Coaching and Training for Sports Success Tirta Kaluang Club West Pasaman West Sumatra uses its own swimming pool to train athletes and students. The water exercise schedule is carried out four times a week, namely Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 16.00 WIB to 18.00 WIB, Sunday from 06.00 to 09.00 WIB and the physical training schedule three times a week before water exercise, namely Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. One of the physical elements needed for swimming is stamina.
Based on observations by researchers from the Tirta Kaluang Club, West Pasaman, West Sumatra, swimmers' performance was found to be less comfortable. Excellent condition and good physical condition, including general stamina and endurance. Lack of benefit due to physical imperfection. Not achieving best times during practice or competition. Which did not have the best time, firstly because the freestyle swimming speed was not optimal, and secondly because the endurance was not optimal, so he got tired before reaching the finish. Especially in freestyle swimming over 200m and 400m.
In this study population, there were all 20 middle-aged athletes or teenagers aged 13-15 years. The sample in this study used a total sampling technique, so the sample consisted of 20 people. The instrument used is the bleep test. Based on the results.
The research described in the previous chapter can be concluded from this research, namely that interval training can increase the VO2 Max of Tirta Kaluang Club Swimming Athletes, after being given treatment for 18 meetings, this can be seen from the t value obtained based on data analysis from the training results, namely tcount= 13.15 which is greater than ttable 1.792.
