The development of information technology provides many conveniences, especially Numerous conveniences are offered by the advancement of information technology, particularly in education. The utilization of the internet network was technology’s most significant contribution to the field of education. Services and information are not constrained by time, place, or space with the internet. Educational institutions shifted to an online learning platform during the Covid-19 epidemic. That makes technology indispensable in the teaching and learning process. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the information technology abilities of students at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau, during the Covid-19 pandemic. The specific objective of this research was to find out the characteristics of basic information technology abilities and the characteristics of information technology abilities of students in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau, while online learning takes place. The items examined by the researcher as an assessment of student abilities are email, the internet, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, file management, Zoom Meeting, AORTA, and Google Classroom. This research was quantitative descriptive research with proportional stratified random sampling techniques. The sample for this study was 71 students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau, in 2019, 61 people in 2020, and 75 students in 2021. The results of this study indicate that students at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau, are able to use information technology during the Covid-19 pandemic.
