Karakteristik Briket Arang Ampas Tebu Dan Arang Cangkang Kemiri
ABSTRACT
The use of energy such as petroleum has increased along with the increasing human population and increased industrial activity which has resulted in dwindling energy reserves. Biomass energy can be used as alternative energy to replace one of them was briquettes. Briquettes are solid fuel from biomass containing lignin and cellulose, such as bagasse and candlenut shell. The purpose of this research was to obtain the best ratio from bagasse charcoal and candlenut shell charcoal based on SNI No. 01-6235-2000. This research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five treatments and four replications. The treatments in this study included the ratio of bagasse charcoal and candlenut shell charcoal 90:10 (P1), 80:20 (P2), 70:30 (P3), 60:40 (P4), and 50:50 (P5). Data were analyzed statistically using the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and then continued with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5% level. The results of the analysis showed that the ratio of bagasse charcoal and candlenut shell charcoal had a significant effect on moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, bound carbon content, and calorific value. The best treatment briquettes was P5 (50:50) with the result of an analysis moisture content of 4.00%, ash content of 5.10%, volatile matter content of 12,17%, bound carbon content of 78,71% and a calorific value of 5.785.52 cal/g.
