Hubungan Tutupan Terumbu Karang Dengan Kelimpahan Megabentos Di Perairan Pulau Sironjong Gadang Provinsi Sumatera Barat

ABSTRACT
This research was conducted in March 2023 on Sironjong Gadang Island, West
Sumatra. The purpose of the study was to analyze the relationship between coral
reef conditions and megabenthos abundance in the Sironjong Gadang Island area
of West Sumatra. The method used is the survey method, with data collection
done by determining the research station, which is divided into 3 stations and each
station consists of 3 depths. Coral reef data collection using the UPT (underwater
photo transect) method and megabenthos abundance collection using BBT (belt
benthos transect), which was then tested on simple linear regression to see the
relationship between the two. Based on the observation of the percentage of live
coral reef cover at each research station in the waters of Sironjong Gadang Island,
the percentage ranged from 2.34 to 12.83%, with an average percentage of live
coral reef cover of 5.96% which is included in the poor category. The abundance
of megabenthos was found as much as 25,200 in/ha of 7 types there are 9 species,
and the results of regression analysis, there is a relationship between the
percentage of live coral reef cover with megabenthos abundance based on the
correlation coefficient (r) of 0.592 which falls into the category of a strong
relationship.
