Persepsi Masyarakat Terhadap Harimau Sumatera (Panthera Tigris Sumatrae) Di Kecamatan Lareh Sago Halaban Kabupaten 50 Kota Provinsi Sumatera Barat
ABSTRACT
Research on public perceptions of the Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) in Lareh Sago Halaban District, 50 City Regency, West Sumatra Province, was carried out for 60 days from August to September 2022. Data collection methods used questionnaires and interviews. The sampling method uses simple random sampling, the aim is to know the public's perception of the Sumatran tiger, to know the local wisdom of the community towards tigers. The public has various perceptions of the Sumatran tiger. Some have a positive perception because they have felt the benefits of the existence of tigers, both environmentally and for the tiger population. The community has the awareness to maintain the Sumatran tiger population using local wisdom and maintaining taboos and prohibitions on Sumatran tigers. However, some people still do not know the importance of the existence of Sumatran tigers because people are afraid that Sumatran tigers will disrupt community activities. Some local wisdom at the location, delivery of offerings in the form of: eggs, sticky rice and also incense which is delivered to the edge of the rice fields around the forest, which typically arises from the presence of tigers which is positive and has a good impact on tiger conservation.
