Abstract

Carocok fishing port is a place for fishermen to land their catch after completing fishing activities. One of the marine fisheries products in the Carocok UPTD is skipjack (Katsuwonus pelamis). The purpose of this study was to analyze the potential, utilization rate and allowable catch for skipjack (Katsuwonus pelamis) resources in UPTD Carocok Tarusan. The method used in this study is the concept of maximum sustainable yield (Maximum Susteinable Yield) or abbreviated as MSY. Based on this research, it can be concluded that the surplus production model suitable for UPTD Carocok Tarusan is using the Schaefer model, the potential value of sustainable catch (MSY) is 120,014.8 Kg with an optimum fishing effort (F-opt) of 122 Trips / Year. The value of the amount of catch allowed is 96,011.86 Kg. The overall catch of skipjack landed at UPTD Carocok Tarusan is still below the MSY value. The utilization rate obtained with the average utilization rate of skipjack landed in UPTD Carocok Tarusan is 61.82%, the level of skipjack utilization in UPTD Carocok Tarusan can still be said to be Moderate, which means that there is an opportunity to carry out optimal skipjack fishing activities.
