Identifikasi Candida SP Pada Pasien Diabetes Melitus Dengan Gingivitis Di Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a disease caused by chronic metabolic disorder that is marked by high glucose level in blood, whereas gingivitis is an infection that occurred in mouth cavities. Gingivitis occurence could become a complication in diabetes mellitus patients. Gingivitis in DM patients are caused by many forms of microorganisms such as fungal infection. The purpose of this research is to identify Candida sp in DM patients with gingivitis in Arifin Achmad Regional Public Hospital of Riau Province. The sample of this research is cultured gum swab, which will then be identified in Medical Faculty of Riau University laboratorium. The research data that have been obtained will then be noted, concluded and analyzed. The processing of the data will be done manually and presented in the form of distribution and frequency table and specified in a presentation. The results was in DM patients with gingivitis we found Candida sp positive in 8 patients (25.0%) and negative in 24 patients (75.0%). The results of the charecteristics of the highest occurences of DM patients with gingivitis by gender was female with 56.52%, the highest by age group was 50-59 years old with 37.5%, the highest by jobs was PNS/TNI/POLRI and housewives with 34.38%, the highest by education was highschool graduates by 46.88%. In conclusion, the population characteristics with the highest gingivitis occurences in DM patients was in female, age group of 50-59 years old, PNS/TNI/POLRI and housewives, and lastly was in highschool graduates.
