The need for a profession in the field of design in Pekanbaru has not been balanced with the availability of formal educational institutions in the field of design at the tertiary level in order to provide graduates who are competent in the profession of design in Pekanbaru. The high absorption of the design profession in industry and consulting bureaus in Pekanbaru has made some people's awareness of the benefits of work in the design field increasingly high. Moreover, a formal educational background is currently required to qualify for a profession. Therefore, to produce competent and quality human resources in the field of design, a formal education institution in the field of design is needed in the form of a Design Institute, where this Design Institute accommodates the community in formal education activities specifically in the field of design. This Design Institute accommodates several fields of design disciplines that are relevant to the needs of the design industry in Pekanbaru, including interior design, visual communication design, fashion design and industrial product design. Design activities are always related to creativity, in producing an educational facility that can support design activities an appropriate approach is needed, starting from the results of a study by Plambech & Cecil in 2015 which showed that environments with a natural atmosphere have the capacity to increase creativity in activities in the field of design . The Design Institute building applies an Organic Architecture approach to promote harmony between building users and nature through a design that approaches harmony between building form, use of materials and building comfort. Through an organic process, the Building Design Institute produces mass forms that are in harmony with the site conditions, using non-monotonous colors that are inspired by nature while giving character to the building, the use of wood materials that gives a natural impression to the building, and the arrangement of vegetation in the building adds to the comfort of building users
