Perancangan Foreign Language Education Center Di Pekanbaru Dengan Pendekatan Sustainable Architecture
The current era of globalization enables people to collaborate on an international scale, thus making proficiency in a foreign language a necessary attribute. One of the government efforts in developing human resources in Riau is sending 40 students and 135 Indonesian Migrant Workers (IMW) to study and work abroad in 2022. However, language proficiency and certification are required. Therefore, they need to go to language education centers that provide learning, training, and test for foreign language certification. Although there are numerous foreign language courses in Pekanbaru, there are still some shortcomings. Hence, the idea of the design of a Foreign Language Education Center in Pekanbaru emerged to fulfill all foreign language education activities and complement the deficiencies of existing language education institutions. The research method applied is a qualitative descritptive method derived from primary data and secondary data. This design applies the Sustainable Architecture approach, which adjusts to facilities and activities that consume energy and produce waste. The Sustainable Architecture approach was chosen to alleviate negative impacts on the environment, reduce non-renewable energy consumption, and maximize renewable energy utilization. The expected outcome of the discussion is to achieve a building with the application of a theme that creates a balance between the design building environment and its surrounding natural environment in a sustainable manner so as to elevates the quality of activities conducted within the Foreign Language Education Center.
