Prarancangan Pabrik Etilen Glikol Dari Etilen Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor CSTR (R-101)
Ethylene Glycol is a glycol with a simple diol compound. The main raw material used in making ethylene glycol using a direct oxidation process is ethylene. This factory is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously 24 hours/day with a capacity of 200,000 tons/year which will be established in the city of Cilegon, Banten. The company form chosen is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The main equipment design in this factory is the CSTR Reactor (R-101) which functions to react ethylene oxide with water to become ethylene glycol. This CSTR reactor is operated at a pressure of 30 bar and a temperature of 200⁰C. Economic analysis in the design of this factory shows that this factory is feasible to build. With a Break Event Point (BEP) value of 21%, Pay Back Period (PBP) of 1.8 years, Rate of Investment (ROI) of 22.75%, and Interest Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.76%.
Keywords: Ethylene, Ethylene Glycol, Direct Oxidation Process, CSTR Reactor.
