Model Perilaku Sehat Dalam Menggunakan Smartphone/ Gadget Pada Siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas (Sma) Negeri Di Kota Padang
Background and Objectives: The rapid development of technology and information at this time. Through various technological media all types of information can be obtained easily (Mulyati & NRH, 2018). One of the manifestations of these technological developments is gadgets. Gadgets are very useful for the means of human life so that most parents have introduced gadgets and facilitated them to children from an early age (Indriyani et al, 2018). Gadgets are not only used by adults, but children also have an interest in gadgets (Ramanda, 2018). The Asian Parent Insights (2014) parents allow their children to use gadgets with the excuse of introducing them to technology that aims to provide entertainment, and so that children become calmer. In addition, parents revealed that children sometimes asked to buy gadgets or asked to force their parents to lend gadgets. Experience shows that in the daily life of parents who lend gadgets to children because parents feel tired or when parents want to rest (Radliya, Apriliya, & Zakiyyah, 2017). Parents who let children use gadgets at will, the level of gadget addiction will be higher than children who are under parental control and do not let children play gadgets just like that (Park & Park, 2014). This study aims to examine the effect of smartphone use on health and socio-economics aspects of students in the city of Padang. Materials and Methods: The population was 11,429 Senior High School students in Padang. Samples were taken by accidental sampling as many as 210 students (35 students in each senior high school). The analysis used in this research was using correlation analysis between behavioral variables in using smartphones/gadgets with health and socio-economics variables. Results and Discussion: The results showed that the effect of using smartphones/gadgets on vision and hearing health was influenced by the duration of use of more than 4 hours 17 minutes with a continuous use of not more than 2 hours. The use of smartphones/gadgets that exceeded these rules caused visual impairment, hearing loss and weakens students' social relationships. Conclusion: Healthy and ergonomic behaviors in using smartphones/gadgets for senior high school students in Padang City was in the duration of use not more than 4 hours 17 minutes, with a continuous use of less than 2 hours. The negative effects of using smartphones/gadgets on high school students exceeding the healthy and ergonomic behaviors time limit were hearing loss and visual impairment. The suggestion for this research is only limited to high school teenagers, therefore it can be carried out in the age group of toddlers and elementary school students or in other age groups and also on different subjects such as people who frequently use smartphones/gadgets, for example operators in offices, businessmen. with other effects on health. Hopefully, in the future, government regulations will be regulated in the form of policies regarding the use of smartphones for students so that they can improve the health status of adolescents so that they can be productive during their productive years.
